Udall Announces $14.7 Million for Affordable Housing on Tribal Land

WASHINGTON -U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) today announced that 18 tribal organizations in New Mexico will receive $14,695,962 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for affordable housing.

The funding is made possible by the Indian Housing Block Grant program within HUD and will benefit low-income families living on Indian reservations or other nearby communities.

"Many New Mexico families are struggling just to keep a roof over their heads -- a problem that is especially true on our tribal lands," Udall said. "These funds will help increase quality affordable housing opportunities in our Native communities."

The Indian Housing Block Grant program distributes funds each year to eligible Indian tribes or their tribally designated housing entities for a range of affordable housing activities.
