Udall Announces $200,000 for Job Training in Lea County

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) today announced that the Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce will receive $200,000 to provide 100 Lea County area residents with job training skills.

The funding is made possible through the U.S. Department of Labor. The project will provide job readiness skill training, English as a Second Language instruction, case management, GED preparation and job placement services.

"With the economy continuing its slow recovery, it is more important than ever to invest in New Mexico's workforce," Udall said. "Increased access to training and educational services will help prepare hardworking New Mexicans for careers that allow them support themselves and their families."

The Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce will coordinate with the Small Business Development Center and New Mexico Junior College to provide services.
