WASHINGTON
- U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) today announced that the city of Socorro will receive $4.945 million in grant and loan funding to build additional water distribution lines and lift stations to serve residents of the communities of Evergreen and Hope Farm.
The city will receive a grant of $1.25 million and a loan of $3.695 million from the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program run by U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
"Our municipalities often face the dual challenge of outdated and overused water and waste disposal systems. This funding will help the city of Socorro keep pace with increased demands on their system," Udall said.
