A Busy End to the 111th Congress

Over the last couple weeks, the U.S. Senate tackled a number of pressing national issues, held up by months of delay.

The extension of tax cuts, the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, and an important nuclear treaty all finally faced up-or-down votes.

To cut through the noise coming out of Washington, here's a new edition of my "Video Vote" -- a quick overview of how I voted on these important bills and how they impact New Mexico.

Watch my "Video Vote" on these recent key bills above. As the 111th Congress comes to a close, I'm on my way home to New Mexico for the holidays.

When we come back in January, I'm going to push the Senate to be more accountable and transparent, encourage open debate, and move beyond partisan gridlock. At the heart of the issue is the Senate's rules and on the first day of the next Congress, I want the Senate to make important changes .

Until then, I hope you have a safe holiday season, close to the ones you love. To those of you with family in uniform serving overseas this season, my thoughts and thanks are with you.
