WASHINGTON
-U.S. Senators Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall today announced that New Mexico will receive $5.6 million from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for projects at airports in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe and Conchas Lake. DOT had previously provided $16.5 million for New Mexico airports under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The City of Albuquerque will receive $2.5 million to reconstruct a runway at the Double Eagle II airport. The Las Cruces International Airport will receive $2.5 million to reconstruct a runway, and the Santa Fe Municipal Airport will receive $500,000 to reconstruct and relocate a taxiway. Finally, Conchas Lake Airport will receive $100,000 to rehabilitate its runway.
"These grants represent a major investment in our state, and will help ensure the safety of New Mexicans who use these airports," Bingaman said.
"This is a great example of the Department of Transportation funding important projects in New Mexico. I am happy to see that these airports will be able to move forward with improving their facilities," said Udall.

The City of Albuquerque: $2.5 million
Las Cruces International Airport: $2.5 million
Santa Fe Municipal Airport: $500,000
Conchas Lake: $100,000
Total: $5.6 million
