WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall today announced that $588,000 will be awarded to Atomic Transit of Los Alamos in a grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The funding will go to purchase four new buses.
Atomic City Transit will use the money to replace older buses and purchase new buses to expand transit routes and add an eastern area route. The new bus route will serve East Gate businesses, the Airport Basin and the Entrada Business Park.
"Providing new buses gives Los Alamos an up-to-date and convenient alternative to driving," said Udall. "I believe we should fund public transportation options in New Mexico so communities like Los Alamos can continue to expand their transportation systems."
Udall is a member of two Senate committees that deal with transportation issues.
