Today I joined a group of my colleagues on the Senate floor to highlight continued Republican obstruction to voting on key nominees within the Obama Administration. More than 80 percent of the 107 stalled nominees came out of committee with overwhelming support.
I continually made motions for the Senate to consider a group of nominees, including both Democrats and Republicans, to fill positions in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of State.
Every motion received an objection.
It is time for Republicans to stop abusing the system and make good on the Senate's responsibility to provide advice and consent on the President's well-qualified nominees. This is unacceptable.
I also talked to Joan McCarter at Daily Kos about the extent of this obstruction. You can read that article here .
