Udall: $1.9 Million for Head Start Programs in San Juan, Sandoval and Santa Fe Counties

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) today announced that Presbyterian Medical Services will receive $1.9 million for Head Start projects that focus on child welfare, healthy development and preparation for kindergarten.

The funding is provided through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"Families in our rural communities often have fewer child care options and rely on programs like those from Presbyterian Medical Services," Udall said. "At a time when future funding for Head Start and Early Start may be in jeopardy, grants like these are more important than ever."

Presbyterian Medical Services provides services for 1,027 Health Start children and 246 Early Head Start children in San Juan, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties.
