Udall: Santa Fe Passport Office Re-opened

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) today announced that the Santa Fe Passport office has re-opened after its closure five weeks ago.

Less than two weeks ago, Udall sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urging the prompt re-opening of the Santa Fe Passport office after area residents were left without local passport services. The closure forced residents to travel at least 50 miles round-trip to the nearest passport office in Los Alamos.

"I am pleased that the Santa Fe passport office has re-opened in a timely manner. As families are preparing for holiday travel, it is important that they have access to a local passport office. Making residents travel 50 miles round-trip, especially during winter, can be burdensome," Udall said.

Udall's office was alerted to the passport office closure from a constituent who went to the facility only to find a note on the door about the closure and no further information.
