WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall issued the following statement on the confirmation of France Cordova of New Mexico to lead the National Science Foundation:
"France Cordova is an internationally recognized astrophysicist with a distinguished career in academia and government service. I look forward to working with her in this position, which plays an important role in New Mexico. As a major source of funding for scientific research, the NSF's mission is to keep the nation at the leading edge of science and discovery - a goal that is crucial as we seek to maintain our leadership in innovation and promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education in our schools and universities. Dr. Cordova is a leader in her field and there couldn't be a better example for aspiring scientists. I'm confident she will serve with distinction."
