Udall Statement on the Anniversary of 9/11

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall today released the following statement on the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks:

"Today, as we come together as a nation to reflect on the tragic events of 9/11, we remember and honor those whose lives were taken in New York City, Shanksville and Arlington, the heroic first responders who rushed to the aid of others, and the brave men and women who were called to duty and selflessly served their people and their nation in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks. Out of tragedy, we joined together in the spirit of unity that would help us to heal.

"As we pause today to remember those whose lives were lost on that terrible day, we also commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice to make our country safer and recognize those who continue to proudly serve their nation. We owe all of our service members and first responders a debt of gratitude, and must do everything in our power to support them and their families both abroad and at home."
