WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall issued the following statement on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:
"Today, we come together as a nation to remember those who lost their lives 15 years ago in senseless terrorist attacks-in New York City, in Shanksville, and in Arlington. We honor the brave first responders who did not hesitate to rush headfirst into unknown danger. And we thank the men and women called to duty in the aftermath of this national tragedy who served their nation selflessly.
"As we reflect on the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, we also remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation's security and recognize those who continue to proudly serve our country. We owe all of our service members and veterans, as well as their families, a debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifice-today and every day. On this somber anniversary, we must recommit ourselves to doing everything we can to support them, both while they're serving abroad and once they come back home."
