WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall thanked Albuquerque native Claire Wengrod for her work as an intern in his Washington, D.C., office this summer. During her nine weeks on Capitol Hill, Wengrod worked primarily on issues related to agriculture and the environment.
“U.S. Senate interns gain invaluable experience as they learn to navigate the nation’s legislative process and the Capitol’s halls,” Udall said. “It has been a pleasure to work with Claire this summer, and I hope that she finds her experiences during this internship rewarding as she finishes college and begins her career.”
Wengrod said her desire to help serve New Mexicans led her to apply for an internship in Udall’s office. She said she appreciates how involved she has been in the legislative process.
“I was able to work on the 2018 Farm Bill, as well as many other environmental projects our office is working on,” Wengrod said. “Senator Udall’s commitment to advocating for the environment has inspired me to do similar advocacy at my university and in my Albuquerque communities.”
Wengrod is the daughter of Kathy Davis and Robert Wengrod and is a graduate of Bosque School. She is currently a senior at Pitzer College, where she majors in political studies, serves on the student senate, and is a soprano with the Pomona College Choir.
