WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall thanked Santa Fe native Gabriela Romero for her work as an intern in his Washington, D.C., office this summer. During her six weeks on Capitol Hill, Romero worked with the Senator’s communications team.
“Interning in the U.S. Senate can be a formative experience, and it has been a pleasure to have Gabriela in my office this summer,” said Udall. “I wish her the best as she returns to school this fall, and I hope she is able to apply the knowledge she gained during this internship to her future pursuits.”
Romero said she appreciated how involved she has been in the office’s operations.
“From appropriations bills to advocating for immigrants, the senator has done some important work while I’ve been here this summer,” said Romero. “Helping Senator Udall and his staff advocate for and communicate with New Mexicans has been incredibly inspiring and has clarified my career aspirations.”
Romero is the daughter of Lisa Dreger and Dennis Romero and is a graduate of Santa Fe Preparatory School. She is currently a senior at Stanford University, where she studies American studies and political science, writes for The Stanford Daily, and is editor-in-chief of the undergraduate history journal.
